The property comprises a Grade A listed building of masonry construction, arranged over five floors including basement. The property was built by the Edinburgh Merchant Company as a Merchant's Hall in 1788-90 from plans by John Baxter who acted as architect / contractor. The property fell into a state of disrepair but was restored in 1991 with architects Gray, Marshall & Associates commission for the restoration work. The project was completed in 1996 and the building now provides retail accommodation over basement and ground floor with office accommodation above.
