DESCRIPTION
Rowrah is a residential village which lies on the A5086 road between Cockermouth and Egremont in west Cumbria within a couple of miles of the western boundary of the Lake District National Park. The adjoining village of Arlecdon has a primary school and pub whilst Frizington, about 2 miles, has a convenience store and other shops. The nearest main centre is the harbour town of Whitehaven, about 6 miles, which has supermarkets, a shopping centre and marina. The area benefits from employment at the Sellafield reprocessing site, inward investment from Britains Energy Coast, a public sector partnership, and the proposed Moorside Nuclear Power Station would bring further significant investment if it goes ahead. The land comprises the area shown edged red on the attached plan known as Plot A, a former railway goods yard, disused since the 1960’s and now scrubland with some trees. It is mainly level extending to 0.79 hectares (1.95 acres) and has access onto Rowrah Road. It is bounded by allotments, a cycle route and open countryside.
