Brackenrigg occupies a superb elevated position on the road between Pooley Bridge and Glenridding, giving it wonderful, breath-taking views out across Ullswater and the fells beyond. Believed originally to have been built as a coaching inn with its beautiful bay window frontage added during Victorian times. The adjacent stable block, containing three suites with interconnecting family rooms, adds additional letting accommodation and there is a wonderful elevated terrace to the frontage as well as micro-brewery and plenty of car parking, making Brackenrigg one of the best-known and most popular destination inns in the Lake District. Brackenrigg was acquired by the present owners in 1996 and during their ownership they have completely re-configured this landmark property. They have replaced all of the en-suites and upgraded the letting bedrooms as well as providing additional letting bedrooms from the former self-catering cottages. Ground floor bars and restaurants have similarly been upgraded as well as adding terraces to both the frontage and rear garden, giving wonderful additional al fresco dining and drinking area in which to take in the stunning views of Ullswater and Helvellyn. Most recently, they have converted a former stable building in to a micro-brewery. This continual enhancement of the property has helped it increase income from not only the letting bedrooms but also from food and beverage, seeing turnover and profitability significantly enhanced. Having enjoyed their many years of ownership of Brackenrigg, the owners are now looking to enjoy their retirement.
